Welcome to Small Farm DIY, a site dedicated to helping people who are interested in self sufficiency and homesteading find the information they need to do it.

Whether you want to learn how to check the air pressure in your car tires, bake the perfect biscuit, or go completely off grid and produce all of life’s necessities for you and your family, my mission is to help guide you (and myself) down that road.  I hope to be able to teach what I know and learn even more as we embark on this life changing journey together.  This site will be a long term work in progress, so may take awhile to be considered at all “comprehensive”, but I hope to be able to collaborate with all of you to make it as informative and useful to as many people as possible. 

We can all see that the world is going through some strange changes.  Political and social turmoil is tearing at the fabric of peaceful societies.  We have become more and more dependent on technology and on other people to produce what we need for survival.  As the world gets more technologically advanced we have lost alot of what used to be common knowledge.  While I do believe that we should enjoy the advances and comforts that the human intellect has bestowed upon us, we must not lose the knowledge and skills needed to survive and rebuild should society or this technological marvel we’ve created one day let us down.  The more we learn today, the easier it will be to help ourselves and our loved ones weather the storm should that day come.

Now complete self sufficiency is a tall order to write about, and I would never claim to know everything it encompasses.  We should still try, as a community, to share and build up our knowledge together.  If there are any topics you do not see, and would like to, please leave a comment and I will try and get a post on that topic as quickly as possible.
